Business Development Executive

Business Development Executive - based in Southampton

Chilworth is a world leader in process safety testing and consultancy. Within the UK the company has fully equipped laboratory and office facilities on the outskirts of Southampton, in the beautiful setting of Southampton Science Park. We serve blue chip global companies with expert services across a range of industrial sectors from our businesses on four continents.

Working as an integral part of the existing Business Development Team, you will be responsible for sales & business development activity within your territory, from initial enquiry through to quote generation. You will be responsible for performing customer site visits & sales report generation and for scoping customer requirements from a commercial perspective. A proven ability to build and enhance customer relationships is essential as you will also play a key role in converting clients into key accounts. Technical knowledge development is a pivotal requirement for success. Being able to liaise with clients at a technical level by learning and understanding process safety science is a pre-requisite. The successful candidate will be degree qualified in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, with at least 10 years technical sales exposure working within an engineering/ chemical process safety sector/ manufacturing environment.

The position will involve working closely with colleagues in the Consulting, Laboratory, Accounting and Business Development Support functions and will include the attendance of regular EMEA Sales Team meetings.

Primary Duties:

  • Developing and implementing customer and product specific sales plans in collaboration with the Business Development Manager
  • Identifying, developing and realising sales revenue with new Customers, business and product opportunities
  • Issuing quotations and converting these to sales revenue
  • Providing a focal point for contact with the Customer base
  • Developing and maintaining a personal contact database with information to be made available to SAP users
  • Identifying and developing opportunities for allied business units such as JCI and members of the Chilworth Global partnership in collaboration with other members of the Business Development team
  • Attending exhibitions, conferences, etc. as agreed with the Business Development Manager
  • Managing day to day sales at accounts in collaboration with other members of the Business Development & Marketing team to maximise the overall business development and sales performance

We are willing to consider a candidate who could work remotely but the candidate must be able to come to Phi House on regular occasions.

Benefits include, 25 days holiday entitlement, company car, contributory company pension scheme, target based bonus scheme and life assurance cover. Normal hours of work are 08:45 to 17:00 Monday to Thursday & 08:45 to 15:10 Friday.

Process Safety General Manager

For our legacy Chilworth, we're looking for a Process Safety General Manager.

Role objective:

The successful candidate, who will report directly to the PS EMEA Director, will take part in the management of the business line and influence its strategic direction. He will lead and manage in first person the business in the Benelux and ensure its development and growth through consulting and sales activities.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for ensuring the administration development, commercial & financial performance of the NLF business in compliance with corporate directives for legal, fiscal, accounting, administrative and human resources matters.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure administration development, commercial and financial performance of the Netherlands and Flemish business in compliance with corporate directives.
  • Build and maintain relationship with clients
  • Work closely with EMEA Sales function to scope projects within BENELUX
  • Manage the business development and growth through consulting and sales activities
  • Responsible for creating a company culture oriented toward results and a can do attitude
  • Insure proper communication of company aims and maintain its reputation of technical excellence and integrity
  • Insure quality of service provided to customer
  • Participate in delivering services (eg. Trainings, Conference)
  • Ensure the proper execution of projects including subcontracted work internally or externally

Your skills:

  • A degree in engineering, chemical engineering or chemistry
  • Experience in managing a Process Safety consulting unit
  • Strong knowledge of process safety in order to supervise projects effectively.
  • Ability to select, guide and motivate professional staff to achieve business goals.
  • Able to influence and drive his direct reports through personal example
  • Natural leadership: provide and communicate clear objectives and feedback to direct reports
  • Ability to travel within the EMEA region and globally
  • Fluency in Dutch & English is a must, French and/or German would be a useful addition

Process Safety Consultant

For our legacy Chilworth, we're looking for a Process Safety Consultant.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform safety studies for Seveso sites independently or in a team, in accordance with the local regulations
  • Perform process safety risk analyses according to various methods (HAZID, HAZOP, Preliminary risk analysis, LOPA, etc.)
  • Assist our clients to achieve ATEX regulations compliance
  • Leadership in incident investigations
  • Facilitate process safety trainings
  • Build and maintain client relationships
  • Help in experimental studies at Chilworth Laboratories.

Your skills:

  • A degree in engineering, chemical engineering or chemistry
  • 5+ years process industry experience
  • Strong knowledge of process safety
  • PHA/HAZOP/LOPA leadership/facilitation experience
  • Background in dust & gas explosion & thermal runaway is a plus
  • Ability to travel within the EMEA region and globally
  • Fluency in Dutch, French & English is a must

Behavioural Safety Consultants
German, Spanish or Scandinavian speaking - Flexible locations (Permanent Full-Time/Associates)

For our legacy BST, we're looking for Behavioural Safety Consultants.

Objective of the role:

We are actively seeking a number of exceptional individuals, who can assist our blue-chip Customers to deliver significant improvements to their safety performance, through interventions across the whole spectrum of Organisational Culture, Safety Leadership, Safety Management Systems, and at the Working Interface deploying our proprietary and best-in-class Behavioural Accident Prevention Process® and SafeAlign™ technologies.

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Director of Consulting EMEA.

Critical Responsibilities and deliverables:

  • Scoping and delivering cross-functional performance improvement.
  • Process re-engineering and safety management programmes for customers.
  • Evaluation of organisational issues and advise senior clients.
  • Implementation of consistent performance improvement systems while working with teams at the client’s organisations.
  • You will also have the opportunity to contribute to product development and company best practices.
  • Enhance the opportunities for new and incremental business by nurturing strong client relationships.

Skills:

  • Successful either in line management or in safety improvement consulting - ideally with a strong understanding of Behavioural Safety.
  • Experience within the oil & gas, chemical, construction, transportation or heavy manufacturing sectors would be beneficial.
  • Experience in Leadership Development, and/or Enterprise-wide Change Management with an understanding of Organisational and/or Process Safety Management challenges.
  • You should be international in outlook.
  • Willing to travel - Extensive travel is required - on average, our own Consultants spend 12 – 16 nights away from home each month, travelling to client sites throughout the EMEA region.
